Page 3 of the interactive Global Surveyon People Migration!
This is page 3 of the people migration study aimed at ascertaining if people move home between National census intervals and why. On this page are the preliminary results. Thank you to all of you who have donated information! If you have yet to take part in this survey using your own life experiences and have been uncertain about the outcome, it is hoped this page is reassuring to you.Preliminary Results. 21 April, 2008
The next chart (chart 5) is a count of the reasons for the migratory moves that respondents have made within the recent twenty year period. Keep in mind that the ratio of female to male respondents is 3:1 therefore a direct comparison of the count would not be statistically correct in determining who moves more, female or male? No count was made for marital status, so there is no indication of widow / widower condition. What is interesting is the higher percentages of 20th century females who moved to either find work or to get married. Whilst social historic studies have shown that traditionally 19th century females regularly moved to find work, it was usually the males who moved to get married. It will be interesting to see how this 20th century ratio progresses over the duration of the study period.
