08 August Global Migration Results Preliminary results from the respondents to the Global Migration Survey ... fascinating results with evident gender consequences!
08 August 2000 Old Maps Added a Link to the Old Maps of Britain that are provided by Landmark Information Group. Many 19th Century Maps of Britain are available "on-line" in great detail, even down to house level in some.
08 August 2000 Easy Peasy Guides A little on the "cheeky" side, but as I have my own web design agency, I put my own banner on a few selected pages. Why not check out the service? It may just be what you are looking for. The service is especially focused at Family Historians who want to be able to use the web to share information.
11 June 2000 Leinster Regiment Update A new form that can be used to submit information about the Leinster Regiment.
10 June 2000 Leinster Soldiers Did you have family in the Leinster Regiment? On this page we have started the first step toward sharing family information about Leinster Regiment soldiers.

19 March 2000 British Army Soldiers I am often asked "How do I find information on my ancestor or family member who was in the British Army?" ... so I built a few explanation pages to answer those questions.
18 March 2000 Global Migration Study An ambitious study to do a simple study about migration (home moves) between National Censuses. It does not ask for any personal details so why not submit what you know to help my academic studies ...
20 August 1999 Recommended Books I have over 100 books on family history and social history research, so it seems logical to praise those I like and use regularly, and perhaps comment on those which have proven to be less useful for me. Where it is still possible to purchase these books I have provided a hyperlink to an on-line book shop Amazon.com should you think a particular book  would be useful for you.
09 August 1999 Discussion area & Billboard. Probably the second biggest move we have made on this site, the creation of a billboard and discussion area. This is where you can post your family query, 'I have an ancestor John Dickson from Tipperary 1848, any connections anyone?' type of thing ... or start up a genealogy discussion. This is your area, we hope you use it wisely.
09 August 1999 Lancashire Maps Did you ever wonder what the ancient County of Lancaster looked like in 1829, how big some of our towns actually were? Today's County of Lancashire has posted the entire Map of Lancashire of 1829 on the web. Unfortunately, sometimes it can be difficult to work with the maps off line so I have written a tutorial that explains how to download the maps, and then how to view, work and print them in a an easy way. Interested  ? then click here
09 August 1999 Genealogy Links Some new links added, an excellent search link for Irish transportation to Australia, and

a new addition from the New South Wales early settlers.

Also linked a new site for American settlers.

Just for fun (and to try out newly acquired skills with JavaScript) there is now a fun time page. Probably doesn't tell you anything you don't already know! I will add a new 'time' label on each page as and when it gets updated, so most pages don't have the link yet.
10 July 1999 1881 Census Installation Guide In the early summer of 1999, the "LDS" released the 1881 census of England Scotland & Wales on 25 CDs. The installation instructions provided by the LDS some people may consider to be "very basic", so if you are having trouble installing your set of CDs, or you are waiting for your set to arrive, this guide written by Don Dickson is an essential download and is provided by Easy Peasy Guides for Free to family historians who visit the-dicksons.org.
21 June 1999 Feedback Form Well I actually think I have got the form working at last!

15 June 1999 Origin of the Dickson surname If you are researching the surname Dickson or one of the variations, take a look at this page to see from where in the British Isles your ancestors may have first lived. Like most people I could not resist creating this page, but it is worth a read for all that.
15 June 1999 2nd Battalion Leinster Regiment Detailed activities of the 2nd Battalion from it's start as the 109 Regiment of Foot, including the involvement of John Dickson from Private to Colour Sergeant. A number of other serving soldiers are mentioned in the text.
