Sergeant Major & Officer at the time of the South Africa War

These pages cover the exploits of the Leinster Regiment and are published by "the-dicksons.org" as part of Family & Community Historical Research information resource, and to demonstrate how family history can "come alive" as research progresses. In this instance an ancestor served with the 2nd Battalion, rising from the rank of Private to Sergeant Major of the Regiment, before transferring with a commission  to the Green Howards for the Great War. By researching the activities of the 1st & 2nd Battalion of the Leinsters it has proven possible to piece together at least part of the life of my ancestor that I never knew. Want to know more?
