Supplementary : Royal Army Service Corps claim descent from7th March 1794 "Corps of Waggoners" disbanded in 1796. On August 14 1799 the Waggoners Corps was reformed , adding the "Royal" one month later moving on to form the "Royal Waggon Train",in August 1802. On July 10th 1833 the "Royal Waggon Train" was disbanded. As a consequence of maladministration during the Crimea War, the "Land Transport Corps" was itself formed on the 24 January 1855. The Army Hospital Conveyance Corps was incorporated into the Land Transport Corps in June 1855 but by August 4 1856 the Land Transport Corps was replaced itself by the "Military Train", a new unit raised as Junior Cavalry Regiment! In September 24 1859, the Commissariat Staff Corps was raised to work in parallel with the Military Train as a Service Corps. A civilian unit, the Military Store Department had been created on April 1st 1857, and these were joined on 23 April 1865 by the Military Store Staff Corps, which now combined both other ranks and officers. On 22 Jan, 1866 The Barrack Department was formed, and on 12 Nov 1869 the Military Store Department was renamed Control Department! Some bright spark figured enough was enough and on November 12 1869 amalgamated the Military Store Staff Corps, the Control Department, the Military Train, the Commissariat Staff Corps and the Barrack Department into the new Army Service Corps. Thus having a heritage traceable back to 1794 and claiming the title of precedence of all army corps.
